The Avatar Roadster

May 15, 2019 by sjw Leave a Comment

Fancy buying a sports car company? If you have some spare cash and are concerned that giving it to a tech startup might not be the best idea at this time – just look at the rapid devaluation of Lyft and Uber, then buy Avatar, a niche British sports car company.

Avatar is currently owned by the Marlin Sports Car Company who have become one of the last independent sports car companies in the UK with the sale of Morgan recently. Marlin have been in existence since the early 1990s making kit cars for the road and also track based cars. One such car, the 5EXi morphed into the Avatar One as a track based racer and was tested in GT championships across the UK. The Avatar One spawned a road version called the Avatar Roadster.

Powered by a two-litre Ford motor producing 250hp thanks to some turbo work the swoopy roadster was launched at the Autosport International event in January 2016. It’s a true roadster because it doesn’t have a proper roof, rather a “get me home” weather shield! It takes all the track input and simply adds road legal equipment and was therefore a lightweight pocket rocket. If you wanted more power then you could specify a 2.3 litre Ford Ecoboost motor instead, that would trim the 0-100km/h number by 0.4 seconds to 3.6.

However … as the company is for sale, maybe you could become another Carroll Shelby or Jack Griffith and slot in a Ford V8 crate motor for a truly wild ride! This is a quick way to developing your own slice of automotive history!

Have a look here to see what you would get: Avatar Sports Cars.

Marques

Veritas

The Veritas marque was founded as a way to manufacture racing cars in Germany at a time when that country was banned from international motorsport. It was a short-lived exercise.
