At the end of Day One we published a podcast with two interviews and a quick view of the start of the event.
The day started with the unveiling of the latest McLaren LMDh hypercar that will race in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship. This was only it’s fourth unveiling across the world and will also be a customer car with it’s own race series.
With so many cars to see and people to catch up with I only recorded two interviews – both about stunning restorations, a 60s Lancia and a 70s Toyota.
Peter Vandersluys and his team at Re.Creation Automotive feature in both interviews. Firstly I spoke with Peter about a gorgeous Lancia Flaminia by Zagato with a racing pedigree and significant provenance. You can find details of Peter’s business in the podcast detail – his work earned them a class win!
I then spoke with Nick Grakini who was displaying is award winning Toyota Celica GT – the only one in the country and brought in to evaluate it for the market in the early 70s. It is a nut and bolt restoration and quite stunning.
