The second day of the Concours d’Elegance was a great day for weather. Whilst the first day was wet and drizzly which forced the event to be mostly indoors, day two meant getting the cars outside and being driven with the event living up to all expectations.
It is great to see a static display of beautiful cars from all ages, however enthusiasts want to see them in action, smell them and hear them burble – especially the 1971 Ford XY Falcon GTHO!
Whilst the “on track” activities were happening, I took the time to record four interviews:
- Fred Drake, the Managing Director of Brough Superior Motorcyles.
Brough Superiors are a continuation of the brand that built motorcycles up to the late 1930s. The new bikes are stunningly beautiful and Fred talks through the bikes as we walk around.

Sir Victor Nash describes his mint condition Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn which has a long history in the country and he talks about the evolution of the Rolls-Royce marque with the introduction of this model.
- Jeremy Best and his Reliant Scimitar GTE.
I spoke with Jeremy Best about his Reliant Scimitar GTE, the Reliant marque and the club community around Sydney and Melbourne.
- Simon Cavelle, the first Artist-in-Residence.
My final interview is with Simon Cavelle from the UK who is the first Artist-in-Residence for the Concours. We talk about his art, how he develops the work and his background before enjoying life as an artist.
